Team Mosaic Visits Beloit Public Library for Two Special Storytimes

STORYTIME FUN

Members of Team Mosaic present their book, “Because You Read to Me”, to the storytime crowd a Beloit Public Library.

Team Mosaic of the Leadership Development Academy of Rock County visited Beloit Public Library on April 25th for the 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. story times with Mary Lou.

The team created a book and partnerships with community organizations to promote early literacy. “Because You Read to Me” is a story about all the things a child might become because (s)he was read to. The book is illustrated by two local students and the 15,000 copies will be distributed to families in Rock County through the Rock County Wisconsin – Youth & Families Development Services. Each book has an insert inside inviting families to the library for a free library card and an additional free book to keep provided by the library.

BOOK INSERTS

Families can redeem cards like this at their local ALS library for a free library card and book to keep.

Summer Schedule of Early Literacy Events Available

ALS began compiling this systemwide, printable schedule of recurring early literacy events this past winter. The half-sheet flyers are great to take on outreach events, to distribute to community organizations, to share with daycare/childcare providers, and to have available to parents at local early literacy events.

Arrowhead has heard multiple praises for this handy flyer. One mother of five shared she used to keep a similar spreadsheet on her computer, which was hard to keep up to date and she’s thankful she doesn’t have to do it anymore.

These schedules are also a great way to remind the public that no library card is needed to attend storytime or other library events (though they are available for free) and visitors are always welcome.

Download and share this handy summer 2018 storytime schedule!
